I don't think Kathy Bates did any good for womankind with that fantastic performance of hers.......I think even the most saintly of men would of had to consider doing the disgusting deed of causing her major damage just to survive!

yes nurse, Bates did such a great job of playing the character that you're willing Caan on do horrendous things to here. that has to be one the greatest film villains ever

Best film poster ever.

The brilliant Bob Peck, also responsible for many other great posters.

I know people have mentioned his more serious roles but i would also mention his performance in Elf.

He plays the stressed, over-worked, miserable dad almost to perfection.

RIP Jimmy.

I lived in Borehamwood when Rollerball came out. The Studio 70 cinema used to be on the roundabout opposite the film studios.
Frequently, usually late on a Friday night, someone would climb up the outside of the cinema and rearrange the giant letters that spelt out the name of the film or star actor on the illuminated sign that covered a large part of the cinema frontage.

Driving past late one night the name of the star of Rollerball grabbed my attention. The mischief maker had removed the AAN in CAAN and found himself the letters U, N and T to add to the the actor's name.

I drove around the roundabout a couple of times to fully appreciate the sight. Childish? Yes, but still funny when up in lights.

Nags, yea my bad.

I've seen the Wahlberg remake, and indeed it was fucking awful. Not seen the original.

I thought that Sonny beat up his brother in law who beat up Sonny's sister.

The Gambler from 1974 is a great film also. Much better than the awful Mark Wahlberg remake.

Bimey, just this week I watched Thief for the first time, had never even heard of it but was reading about Heat and I saw it mentioned, downloaded and viewed.

Misery a good shout, fantastic film. His Godfather role was the big one though, his character Sonny was an unhinged, nasty cunt, yes he was mafia but even so, didn't he beat the wife up?

RIP

He’s great in Thief which is maybe the best Michael Mann film.

Also brilliant in Misery, only just watched The Yards at the weekend where he plays opposite Marky Mark in a NY based crime film.

There were rumours he killed a guy in a mob related hit in the 90s, was meant to have been connected.

Rollerball

Back when America churned out vast quantities of films that should have been shit, but were and are absolute classics.

Love that film, but no idea why really. Liked Caan, he was excellent in pretty much everything I've seen him in.
